COMMISSIONING, MAINTENANCE AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THERMOSTATIC MIXING VALVES

(Normative)

B1 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS The installation instructions packaged with each thermostatic mixing valve shall include the following:

a) Name and address of the manufacturer and the relevant agent in he country of intended sale.

b) Full and comprehensive installation diagrams including the positioning, if necessary of non-integral line strainers, cross-flow prevention devices (non-return valves) and isolating valves, and pressure and temperature controls devices.

c) The maximum continuous working and dynamic pressures, in kilopascals and details for the fitting of any necessary pressure control device where either of these pressures could be exceeded.

d) The maximum hot water operating temperature, in degrees Celsius and details or the fitting of any necessary temperature control device where the temperature could be exceeded.

e) The minimum hot water operating temperature, in degrees Celsius. Specify any relationship between the minimum operating temperature of the hot water and the required temperature of the mixed water to provide effective and repaid hot water shut-off of the mixed water upon sudden reduction in pressure or shut-off of the cold water supply.

f) The minimum and maximum cold water operating temperatures, in degrees Celsius. Specify and relationship between the maximum operating temperatures of the cold water and the required temperature of the mixed water.

g) Full details of requirements for mounting and connecting of the thermostatic mixing valves.

h) The necessary requirement for the provision of access for adjustment, maintenance, repair and replacement of the thermostatic mixing valves.

i) Installations are subject to the requirements of the relevant regulatory authority.

j) Details of any other relevant instructions.

B2 COMMISSIONING INSTRUCTIONS The commissioning instructions shall be available from the manufacturer or agent for each thermostatic mixing valves offered for sale and shall include the following:

a) Name and address of the manufacturer and the relevant agent and source of maintenance instructions.

b) Full directions for the commissioning and operation of the thermostatic mixing valve.

c) The method for setting the maximum temperature of the mixed water if the means for this is provided, and the method for checking the temperature of the mixed water.

d) Procedures for problem solving and corrective actions.

e) Details of any other relevant instructions.

B3 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS The maintenance instructions shall be readily available from the manufacture or agent and shall include the following:

a) Name and address of the manufacturer and the relevant agent.

b) Complete written sequential maintenance details for the referenced thermostatic mixing valves, including an exploded view with the reference to all parts.

c) Identification of spare parts for recommended routine servicing.

d) Procedures or problem – solving and corrective actions.

e) An instruction that the maximum time interval between routine services is 12 months.
